American Graffiti

These photographs are of tags in latin america which use english words as the tagname. The Americanization of the globe is often only talked about in terms of US commercial culture. This side of the US is very visible here in Mexico. Alongside this, though, and less noticed, is the spread of counter-culture. Not only has US-style graffiti spread to Mexico (not to mention any urban center in the world), but here is has also flourished, and become a very active and dynamic subculture - one that I imagine is much closer to New York in the 1980s than New York in the 2010s.
